AirBaltic, 50th livery competition.

At the end of 2023, AirBaltic, Latvia's largest airline, announced a competition to create a livery for the 50th aircraft purchased by the company.

When working on the design, I was inspired by my memories and feelings of living in Latvia. I believe that an aircraft should not be boring, but should attract attention and arouse emotions.
First, I made a mock-up of the model, marked all the exclusion zones on it and collected the necessary company logos and information.
After preparing the tools, I created all the elements necessary for this work. I created a unique version of the Latvian flag, drew a classical ornament, created a vector pattern and did the same with the airBaltic club logo, and also created a texture of an elevation map.
Just for fun, knowing that it would hardly be implemented, I created design elements of arrows with a grunge texture.
The basis of the design is a waving Latvian flag, which enhances the depth effect through shadows. For this design, I created a pattern from the airBaltic Club logo, which became a texture and adds depth to the monochrome elements of the design.
This is the most concise design I have created. It has volumetric lines that symbolise the routes between different destinations. On these lines I have written the codes of all the destination airports that airBaltic's planes fly to.
This is one of my favourite designs. It is fast but concise. It has depth, and I made a special effort to include the classic Latvian ornament that I know from my childhood.
It has similar elements to the previous one, but I wanted to incorporate the Latvian flag in an unusual grunge technique for aviation. It is a risky and brave move, but it will definitely attract attention.
This is actually a single-color design on which the company logos stand out especially. In this version, I included unique lines emphasizing the speed and classic ornament as a basis.
The basis of this design is an image of an altitude chart. The tail has a relatively classic aircraft design with a unique pattern to create depth. Company logos are highlighted with classic Latvian ornamentation.
To be honest, I did it as a creative experiment. I wanted to show movement in all directions. I wanted to use not only classical elements such as Latvian ornaments, but also grunge textures that create depth and texture.
Thank you for your attention.
